We’re all still recovering from the 3-day convention that took place this last weekend in downtown Davenport. It was a cool layout that had 2 cons going on in separate buildings (though the venues were right across the street from one another and there was a skywalk that connected the two). One admission for two cons! What a deal!!
Planet Funk Con is always our big con of the year. We get to see so many faces that we love and miss and is typically is the con where we get the most of us in one place. This year was no exception. We were also busy busters this con! Between stopping to say hi and purchasing things from the numerous vendors at the show, we had our own booth to run (and thanks to those who stopped by. We raised nearly $500 this weekend for Stead’s over the 3 days), trained a new recruit, appeared in a YouTube video, and had a special visit from Brian O’Halloran of View Askew fame. Seeing Dante Hicks with a proton pack on saying “I’m not even supposed to be here today” is a core memory now. He’s a really down to earth kind of guy and we hope we see him at other shows.
We are going to catch our breath, re-charge our gear, and get ready for another 3-day show in Waterloo at Con-Quest in 3 weeks. We hope to see you there!!
